Food
Grab-n-Go 3 Day Backpacks
  • Do the food bars taste good?
The bars are for extreme situations. While they taste OK, sweet and kind of coconut flavored, they would not be our first food choice if we had one. They will however do the trick in an extreme situation.
  • Do the food bars sustain an adult for three days?
Yes, there is enough for three 200 calorie meals per day for three days. Bars have a good mix of protein and carbs to sustain energy.
  • Can I pack other food in the backpack?
Absolutely! There is ample room in the packs for extra supplies.

Provisions Packages

  • How long will the freeze dried food last in the #10 cans?
Food Cans Only – Excluding Powdered Milk
We guarantee a 25 year shelf life (under recommended storage conditions and unopened) for quality of taste and appearance. After 30 years, as long as the can has not been punctured or opened, you might notice a slight difference in taste and appearance.
  • Can I choose a different menu or foods other than what is listed?
Sorry, but no – All Provisions Package menus are designed for maximum nutritional value. Changing this would involve extensive research to ensure nutritional values are being met.
  • Does the food really taste good?
Absolutely! All of the freeze dried food is cooked together and then freeze dried ensuring it maintains it’s robust flavor.
  • What is the best way to store the food when it gets to me?
Optimal storage is at normal room temperature (60F to 80F). Storage should also optimally be at normal or below humidity levels (75% or below) The freeze-dried foods are packed in airtight NITROGEN PACKED #10 cans. Up to 98% of the residual oxygen has been removed. The unique canning process uses both vacuum oxygen removal and nitrogen flushing. This is a time consuming and slightly more costly process…but well worth it. It is the same process mandated by the U.S. Military for whom we also can. Our foods will have the longest shelf life available…up to 30 years! Each can is coated with a protective enamel inside and out for double protection, including the lid. The can contents are protected until you are ready to open and use them. After opening, we recommend using the content with 2 to 3 weeks for best results and taste; using the convenient resealable plastic lid between uses. Treat any leftover food as you would fresh food.
  • What happens when the food expires?
We will send you notification that your food is expiring with instructions to reorder. Food cans excluding powdered milk: We guarantee a 25 year shelf life (under recommended storage conditions) for quality of taste and appearance. After 30 years, as long as the can has not been punctured or opened, you might notice a slight difference in taste and appearance.
  • Can I make extended payments for the provisions packages?
Yes! We can split up shipments to send in increments. For a complete description click on Extended Payment Options.

Water

  • Is it complicated to store my tap water in the water containers or drums?
Not at all. We will send complete instructions with all the accessories you need to store your tap water.
  • What do the experts recommend regarding water and emergency preparedness?
It is recommended that you have one gallon per person per day by both FEMA (the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross. They go on to recommend that you keep a minimum of a two week supply on hand if possible.
  • How do I get the water out of a container or drum if I need it?
Each drum comes with complete instructions and all necessary accessories for water access.
  • Do the containers or drums stack?
    Yes! And very conveniently.

Accessories

  • Why aren’t your accessories included with each package?
With the exclusion of our 3 Day Grab-N-Go Backpacks, all of our Provisions Packages include only food and water provisions. In order to keep the cost down and not include items you may not need we have chosen to sell these items separately.
  • Why aren’t there more choices in your accessories?
Emergency Plan Man is always on the lookout for the highest quality and lowest cost items in each accessory category. Our customers are busy people who want the research done for them with the confidence of knowing they will always receive the very best! With that in mind, we have chosen one or two of each item that we personally have in our own kits at home.

Emergency Preparedness – For How Long?

  • How long do I really need to prepare for?
FEMA (U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency) and The American Red Cross both recommend a minimum of two weeks food and water for emergency preparedness. Two weeks is sufficient for many conceivable emergency situations however, in the event of a pandemic or terrorist activity that would shut down the shipping traffic of food supplies to stores AND government disaster management operations, we highly recommend you consider a one month or three month package. Emergency Plan Man has a three month package in his home for each family member.
  • Long term preparedness is cost prohibitive for us. What are the options?
Emergency Plan Man offers a convenient incremental shipping plan for two week, one month and three month Provisions Packages. Click here for more information.
If expense is a concern for you we also recommend that you buy one package for each person in your household each month.
  • Why do you sell 3 Day Grab-N-Go Backpacks when all recommendations are for two weeks of provisions?
3 Day Grab-N-Go Backpacks are the bare minimum of emergency preparedness every household should have. We wanted to be sure to have a high quality, effective emergency preparedness solution for everyone who may not be able to afford full Provisions Packages. Also, in many disaster situations you may be required to leave your home. 3 Day Grab-N-Go Backpacks are ideal for those scenarios. We also recommend everyone keep a 3 Day Grab-N-Go Backpack in their car.
