why prepare?
Every day we hear about potential disasters, whether they be
natural or man made, that could seriously disrupt our lives for
hours, days or even weeks. Many of us have been saturated by the
media with this information to the point of tuning it out. But
still, there lies in most of us that nagging thought of, “What
if something happen and I wasn’t prepared?”
Emergency preparedness doesn’t mean there has to be a catastrophic
disaster or anarchy in the streets! There may be an event that
occurs hundreds or even thousands of miles from you, but the
ripple effect could seriously affect food and water supplies
for you and your family. What could be worse than being a sitting
duck with no plan when you only have to go a week to ten days
but the store shelves have been wiped clean?
Most of us don’t give a second thought to how the most
basic necessities for our every day lives get to us. We especially
don’t think about how vulnerable those systems are, usually
